This 100 acre crystal clear spring fed lake, is situated in a beautiful natural setting and both the lake and its surroundings are recognised as a special area of conservation under the European Habitats Directive.
It is located 2km from Butlersbridge village and 7km from Cavan Town. The lake is within easy reach of both Dublin (1.5hrs) and Belfast (1.5hrs), and attracts Anglers from all parts of the country. .
The lake is stocked regularly with quality fighting fit Triploid Rainbow Trout from in Inland Fisheries Hatchery in Roscrea. The average fish size is 3-4lbs, with some fish reaching 4-5lbs and sometimes higher. Annagh is exclusively for fly fishing, and can only be fished by boat (electric engine).

The lake had been run by the Inland Fisheries as a Put & Take Fishery since the early 1960’s, and when they decided to cease operations, a group of local anglers took up the challenge and decided to turn it into a Fishery run by Anglers for Anglers
